bio
Jen Rodriguez first picked up a pair of skates at the age of four at a friend ’s birthday party—roller skates, that is. Simply put, this Miami, Florida, speed skating phenomenon has come a long way.
Originally an inline skating world champion, her husband, three-time Olympic speed skater, KC Boutiette, talked her into giving the ice a try. Her natural talent—coupled with her husband’s encouragement—helped her earn four spots on the 1998 Olympic speed skating team. And with Olympic World Championship and World Cup medals to her credit, she has yet to slow down.
In addition to the full trophy case and the dozens of championships to her name, Jen is the first Cuban-American to compete in the Olympic Winter Games and to win an Olympic medal. But through it all, she considers her fourth-place finish in the 3000m at the 1998 Olympic Winter Games the best race of her life, saying “That race brought me into elite status.”
We are pleased to have Jen a part of the 24 Hour Fitness team and wish her more than just good luck in Torino—we wish her the best race of her life.
