24 Hour Fitness® Gives Gift of Health to Benefit Station Deputies and Employees
SAN RAMON, Calif. - April 29, 201124 Hour Fitness, the largest privately-owned U.S. fitness club chain and a leading health club industry pioneer, is excited to announce a donation of fitness equipment to the Lakewood Sheriff’s Station in California’s Los Angeles County. Over 25 professional-quality strength and cardio machines have updated the station’s newly renovated gym, and will benefit hundreds of its employees for years to come.
“The generous donation from 24 Hour Fitness added to the limited equipment we had before the remodel, and provides our deputies and employees with a full workout experience.” said Sgt. Scott Hoglund of the Lakewood Sheriff’s Station. “Since the gym re-opened in March, the amount of staff exercising on a regular basis has easily doubled.”
The new gym opened after a series of winter renovations. Accessible to station employees 24 hours a day, 7 days a week - the two-story facility features a full offering of strength and cardio equipment, a warm-up room, rubber flooring, television screens and a modern stereo system. The new gym and donated equipment assists employees with their training needs and promotes a healthy lifestyle.
“We’re excited that the donated equipment and new workout facility will add to our existing health and wellness efforts,” said Hoglund. “Keeping our staff healthy is a top priority, and we try to encourage fitness among our staff by promoting different activities; whether its participation in community activities or sharing health and wellness information internally. The new gym compliments these efforts, and provides a place employees can use to stay fit on site.”
“24 Hour Fitness strives to make fitness more available in the communities we serve,” said Jim McPhail, executive vice president of real estate and chief development officer for 24 Hour Fitness. “We understand that fitness isn’t always easy, and are pleased that the donated equipment makes exercise more convenient for the employees at Lakewood Sheriff’s Station.”
In addition to local equipment donations, 24 Hour Fitness partners with organizations that promote exercise and healthy living. Partners include KaBOOM!, Playworks and the California Governor's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. The company is firmly committed to a grassroots approach to fitness, and has representatives available in select areas to speak with community groups about childhood obesity and the importance of family fitness. The speaking engagements, which are free of charge, focus on simple steps that parents can take to help kids lead healthier lives. Those interested in scheduling a speaker can email firstname.lastname@example.org for speaker availability and more information.
