24 Hour Fitness Announces Promotion of Five Senior Executives — Chief Executive Officer Carl Liebert Adds President to Title
Changes in senior leadership team responsibilities support strategic growth and continued development for health club industry leader
SAN RAMON, CALIF. - June 27, 2012
SAN RAMON, Calif.- 24 Hour Fitness today announced the promotion of a number of key executives on its senior leadership team, effective June 1. These important promotions are in addition to the company’s recently announced new club grand openings, renovation programs across the nation and ongoing sponsorship of the United States Olympic Committee and U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Teams.
Chief Executive Officer Carl Liebert adds president to his title; since joining in 2006, Liebert has overseen the company’s operations of more than 400 fitness clubs across the United States and in Asia. He has played a strategic role in growing the company’s headcount from 17,000 to 22,000 team members, expanding membership from 2.8 million to approximately four million and increasing the company's profit margins significantly.
Jeff Boyer, who joined 24 Hour Fitness in 2008 as chief financial officer, has been named chief operating officer. In this role he will oversee U.S. field operations, fitness, marketing and business development. Boyer will serve a critical role as the company aligns its corporate operations and initiatives with its field leadership team to drive growth and further expand profitability.
Replacing Boyer, Patrick Flanagan has been named chief financial officer. With more than 10 years of experience at 24 Hour Fitness, Flanagan will oversee the accounting, treasury, tax, financial planning, strategy and internal audit functions. Prior to these responsibilities, Flanagan held the position of senior vice president of finance and treasurer.
Bill Quinn has been appointed chief marketing officer, a role that he led on an interim basis following the departure of the previous CMO in April. As CMO, Quinn will be responsible for all brand management, communications, marketing, web/mobile and member services support.
Jim McPhail, chief development and merchandising officer, will continue to oversee the company’s real estate and development strategy. McPhail has the added responsibilities of leading the company’s retail and merchandising functions. He has been with 24 Hour Fitness for more than six years and has 20 years of retail, real estate and development experience.
“My leadership team has greatly contributed to the growth and development of 24 Hour Fitness, helping our company maintain its competitive advantage through club expansion while elevating brand awareness in communities across the country,” said Carl Liebert, president and CEO, 24 Hour Fitness. “I am proud to announce such well-deserved internal promotions and am fortunate to work with and lead such an exemplary group of leaders who understand how to deliver business results in a values-centered environment.”
