Military Spouse Magazine Recognizes Fitness Leader for Ongoing Commitment to Recruiting and Employing Military Spouses
SAN RAMON, CALIF. - November 21, 2012
SAN RAMON, Calif. -Fitness club industry leader, 24 Hour Fitness announced today that it has been designated as one of the 2013 Top 25 Military Friendly Spouse Employers by Military Spouse magazine for the second consecutive year. The U.S. fitness club chain ranked fourth in the annual list after having ranked 17th in the publication’s 2012 list. The list recognizes companies that hire spouses of active duty service members and make an effort to develop workforce development policies that acknowledge the unique challenges of military life. 24 Hour Fitness was recognized for its forward-looking policies that support the unique employment needs of military spouses.
This accolade follows the company’s recent ranking in the 2013 Top 100 Military Friendly Employers List by G.I. Jobs magazine where it ranked No. 74.
“We are greatly honored to once again receive recognition as a military spouse friendly company and to support the men and women of our nation’s armed forces,” said Carl Liebert, president and CEO, 24 Hour Fitness. “My wife’s support was invaluable to me while I was in the Navy and deployed thousands of miles away from home. As a veteran, I can appreciate the challenges our military families face each and every day.”
The list was compiled from data collected by Military Spouse’s sister magazine G.I. Jobs. G.I. Jobs surveyed companies across the nation to find out which ones are the best places for people transitioning out of the military and into civilian jobs. G.I. Jobs considered job-hunting military spouses when they distributed the Military Friendly Employers® list survey. The survey contained questions that addressed spouses’ biggest concerns, which included flexibility when their spouse is deployed and opportunities for continued employment and advancement in the midst of frequent moves.
