Shaq: A Short Biography
Getting healthy involves a determined spirit and a fun attitude. And since no one competes and clowns around like basketball star Shaquille O’Neal, it’s natural that 24 Hour Fitness wanted to be in business with him.
24 Hour Fitness has teamed up with Shaq to create Shaquille O’Neal Signature Clubs. The partnership started after Shaq spent the 2003 off-season with a certified personal trainer from 24 Hour Fitness. Impressed with the results and the company, Shaq signed on to create a chain of uniquely branded clubs and become an ambassador for 24 Hour Fitness. The Shaq-sized clubs come complete with Shaq-sized amenities – but they’re all about fun.
Shaq’s Community Involvement
Shaq is the spokesperson for The Safe Surfin’ Foundation, an organization that provides parents, teachers, school administrators, law enforcement, community groups, and librarians with the information and resources necessary to keep children safe and their exploration of the internet fun. He has also helped raise money for the STARBRIGHT Foundation and Athletes and Entertainers for Kids. During just about every major holiday, he dresses up and distributes presents: Shaq-a-Claus for Christmas, Shaq-a-Bunny for Easter and Thanksgiving Shaq.
