Fitness has been a part of my life since a very early age. I entered my first organized sport at the age of 11 and continued up until a life changing accident in my second year of College. Around 1987, my older brother introduced me to Martial Arts as a form of rehabilitation, eventually sending me to his teacher Jerry Bell. In 1990 until 1997 I studied Japan Shotoshinki Karate under Grand Master Jerry Bell. In 1997 I began studying Capoeira de Angola and Kali Silat under Guru Ed Martin and in the year 2000 I co-founded Pastinha’s Garden of Capoeira de Angola or PGCA. I am a practitioner of Pentjak Silat Aliran Kanekes (an Indonesian Martial Art form) and have completed a one year intensive study under Maha Guru "Pak" Victor de Thouars of The VDT Academy of Indonesian Martial Arts. I continue my training of Serak, Kali Silat and Capoeira under the tutelage of Guru Ed Martin. Being involved in fitness for so long, I decided to attain Certification as a Fitness Instructor and achieved this goal through the National Academy of Sports Medicine or NASM Currently, I am a PGCA Senior Instructor teaching Capoeira and Kali Silat to youth and adults in Los Angeles and am glad to be a part of 24 Hour Fitness!
