My name is Nasira. I graduated from the University of Arizona in May 2010 with a B.S. in nutritional sciences, a B.F.A. in dance, and a chemistry minor. I am currently working toward my Masters in Public Health and UCLA and I'm thrilled to be a part of the 24 Hour Fitness team!
During my undergraduate career, I was balancing approximately 24 units a semester of science and dance curricula with research assistantships and a personal training business; this provided insight and experience for my career goals.
I have been a competitive athlete since early childhood and a classical ballet dancer for twelve years; prior to college, I trained at Pacific Northwest Ballet School for six hours a day, six days a week. The physical, mental, and emotional strain the intense training placed on my body brought to my attention the deep need for nutrition and kinesiology advisement, not only for elite athletes, but for all physically active individuals who desire to be fit and healthy.
It is my goal to help further educate people regarding the relationship between diet and exercise, and improved physical performance and quality of life. Ultimately, I aspire to advise and train elite professional athletes so they can efficiently and healthfully reach their full athletic potential. I enjoy working with individuals of different age, gender and skill level, as it challenges me to consider and entertain varying physical and dietary demands within our diverse population.
