As a young child I was consumed by watching the performances of athletes such as Michael Jordan, Andre Agassi, Ken Griffey Jr., and Joey Galloway. Day in and day out I fantasized about being an athlete at the professional level, but there was only one problem, I was too chubby, too slow and not coordinated enough to even compete with my fellow peers.
I had started playing sports at the young age of 6 but didn't fall in love until 12 years old. Fortunately, I had coaches who pushed me beyond what I thought was possible and slowly but surely I became better. By the time I reached high school I wasn't as slow, as chubby and had much better eye-hand coordination. I also continued to play sports through high school and had my sights on collegiate tennis although there was a lot of discouragement from outside sources.
Although I chose not to compete at the collegiate level, I did have a fascination about performance enhancement yet had no real idea of how my path would continue. The best educational advice came from a very bright family member who tempted me to just try enrolling in a kinesiology class, it was all over after that... before I knew it I was studying anatomy, physiology, nutrition, physics, chemistry, biomechanics and so on.
Currently, I am finishing up my Bachelors of Science Degree in Exercise Science at California State University Northridge with a background in Pre-Physical Therapy, and am actively changing the health of others who want to seek physical, mental, and emotional change in their lives.
