My passion for training began freshman year of high school. I was on the basketball, football and track team throughout high school. This meant that I was training almost year round. Despite the constant and intense physical training, I still could not loose the fat that concealed my stomach muscles and I was constantly getting injured. By senior year, I had tendonitis in both knees and had sprained/broken both ankles dozens of times. How was it possible that at 18, I had joint pain consistent with someone four times my age and a belly that I could not get rid of even though I had been exercising for four hours a day for almost four years?
It was with these questions in my mind that I began my education at UCSB. Here, I was able to learn training principles that none of my high school coaches were even remotely aware of. Eight weeks after completing my minor in individual fitness instruction, I had eliminated the nagging pains in my feet, ankles and knees and lost all the excess fat on my stomach. I was started on the path to adding 20 pounds of muscle to my body. I became more agile and athletic than I had ever been in high school and have not had any injuries since.
After healing myself and reaching my fitness goals, I looked around and realized the problems I had were actually quite common among friends and family. This is when my hobby of working out turned into my passion. If I could train myself to get the body I wanted and be pain free, I could definitely help others change their body shape and eliminate chronic injuries. I began working with members of the community and studying anatomy, physiology, kinesiology and biomechanics to perfect my training techniques.
Since I discovered my passion, I have worked with people from all fitness levels with diverse goals. I helped one overweight client go from having knee pain so bad that he could barely walk to being much lighter and able to run pain free. I worked with college and high school athletes, improving their game while reducing their risks of injury.
I have now turned my passion for fitness into a career. I strive to pass on my knowledge to help people reach their fitness goals and improve their overall quality of life.
