My journey to the fitness industry began at the age of 21 when I weighed 315 pounds. A friend of mine invited to go to the gym and have not left since. After losing 100 pounds in the first year and a half, I decided to get my first certification from Aerobics and Fitness Association (AFAA). However, I felt that just obtaining a certification was not enough so I enrolled at New Mexico State University in the Kinesiology program; then two years later I transferred to Dallas Baptist University (DBU) into the Kinesiology program. I am the first student to participate in DBUs Accelerated Masters Degree Program and will graduate with a Bachelors of Science and Master's of Education in Kinesiology in May 2013. My goals are to obtain the American College of Sports Medicines, Exercise is Medicine Accreditation, onto my Personal Trainer Certification then obtain the Exercise Physiologist Certification.
