When I moved to San Diego in 1998, I became intimidated by the amount of people who were in far better shape and looked much healthier than I did. I panicked and instantly became a cardio queen! Over time I increased my cardio from 3 hours, to 6 hours, and eventually to 12 or 15 each week! Beating my body, I suffered 6 DVTs and 3 PEs. I was a wreck. Though I had lost 40 lbs, I became bored, discouraged and feared gaining again. That was when I met my trainer. I began training at UTC 3 times a week religiously. It was the first time I had worked resistance training. My trainer helped me balance nutrition, advised me of what to do days I was not with him, and held me accountable. Over 2 years I lost an extra 10 lbs, became stronger, leaner and most importantly, self confident. It was then I decided to quit my career and become a Personal Trainer. I understand how difficult it is to balance life when things go awry. I battle my weight to this day but strive to help others win their same fight. I continue to challenge myself with new, FUN workouts, by myself or in a group. My motto is a great mood is only one workout away!
