Recognized Military-Friendly Employer Opens Doors to Active, Reserve and Retired Military Personnel and Their Families at More Than 400 Locations Nationwide
SAN RAMON, CALIF. - November 1, 2012
SAN RAMON, Calif. - In observance of Veterans Day, recognized military-friendly employer 24 Hour Fitness invites all active, reserve, retired military members and guests to enjoy complimentary workouts at any of its clubs nationwide from Nov. 11 through Nov. 17. This marks the sixth consecutive year the fitness leader has honored America’s heroes with this offer.
“Veterans Day provides us with an opportunity to express our gratitude to the U.S. armed forces and their families for the commitment and sacrifices they make each and every day for our country,” said Carl Liebert, president and CEO, 24 Hour Fitness. “As a former Naval officer, I personally know the critical role fitness plays in the safety and success of our nation's armed forces and we’re proud to open our doors and honor these incredible individuals each year.”
To take advantage of the free workout week, active, reserve and retired members of the U.S. armed forces* must present valid military identification or a DD214 Discharge document. Military guests are also encouraged to bring spouses and children ages 12 years and older to enjoy free workouts with their proper identification cards. Along with the military community, guests can also try 24 Hour Fitness’ full offering of amenities — including state-of-the-art cardio, strength and functional training equipment, high-energy Group X® classes and more — by downloading a free pass at 24hourfitness.com.
To further its commitment to the military community, 24 Hour Fitness recently launched its Military Recruiting Council (MRC) – a specialized team responsible for the development and execution of the fitness industry leader’s military recruitment programs. The council is comprised of 24 Hour Fitness team members from across the nation who have served and supported the U.S. armed forces.
24 Hour Fitness received recognition as one of the “Top 100 Military-Friendly Employers®” of 2012 by G.I. Jobs magazine for its commitment to recruiting and hiring U.S. service members who enter the workforce in the hundreds of thousands each year. The accolade is in addition to the fitness leader being named as one of the “Top 20 Military Spouse Friendly Employers®” of 2012 by Military Spouse magazine.
“We are thrilled to launch our MRC with the help of 24 Hour Fitness Team Members who are former or current servicemen and women or military spouses,” said Mark Foley, executive vice president and chief people officer, 24 Hour Fitness. “As an employer, it is our privilege to work with those who have served and we find it especially rewarding to provide career opportunities to these men and women whose values are so closely linked to our mission of helping others.”
