I started working out during the summer of 6th grade, lifting everyday with my older brother, following a program he designed. By the end of the summer, my body had become more muscular and I was lifting more than double the amount I had started with in the bench press… 15lbs. all the way up to 35lbs (Wow! I was strong).  Anyway, the idea that I could actually change and improve my body (rather than just accept things the way they are) had a very strong effect on me.

It wasn’t until a few years later, my junior year of high school, that I really put this concept to work for me. This was the year that I started running track and the 400 meter dash (that’s once around the track for you track newbies).  For my first race at this distance, I ended up in dead last and proceeded to throw up afterwards.  What can I say… I fell in love with the sport.  After that, my life became all about designing the perfect training program, so as to improve my time (and experience) in the 400 meter dash. This continued on through until the end of college, during which time I was able to drop my personal best from over a minute down to 50.71 seconds.  Not bad, right?

Apparently… not good enough.  Upon graduating I found out that 50.71 wasn’t a good enough time, and that no one would pay me to run around in a circle.  So… after trying a couple of different careers that made me less than happy, I’ve found the one where I’m back doing what I love… designing the perfect training program for people who are sick of running around in circles, and who have trouble making the time.
